What a week!

This week started with a christening, then a birthday (mine - 35!), then the news that we had all come into contact with someone diagnosed with Swine Flu! After some calls from the South Central Flu Centre (apparently) all people at the christening have had to have blood tests and take Tamiflu as a precaution.
It seems that if we had contracted the flu, we would have symptoms by now, and we are all fine, but it has been a right old carry on trying to find out correct protocol and being treated like we have the plague by some! Hope the powers that be get this sorted by the time it's all expected to escalate in October!

Mid week, I picked up my needles and started another pair of slippers ready for sale in Novemeber. Here's a pair I made earlier!

To end the week, a charity I have applied to do the marathon for have offered me a place for the Great North Run! I've accepted and paid my deposit, so I'm commited to raising at least £400. I'm going to be running for Starlight. Please have a look at what they do...tell me you don't think that they are a worthy cause! If you are interested, you may want to look at my just giving page, or use the button on the top right of this page. Thanks!

Cool runnings

Managed to squeeze in a 3 mile run tonight. I didn't check my time but it felt like a good one. I was quite comfortable although there was a lot of downhill on the route. I've started running 'properly' over the past 3 months after doing nothing for years - including getting very unfit whilst having two babies...I did a 10k in May, but I'm only just starting to feel comfortable on some of the shorter runs like tonight. I'm really enjoying getting out there and covering miles with the ipod blasting. I'm doing another 10k in July so fingers crossed...am actually thinking about the marathon next year...

erm, hello!

I'm again dipping my toe in the water of blogland. I think it's time to extend the content of my blog into the other areas that take up my time, so new day, new name.

Today has been a busy one - a five mile run (more about this in later posts, doubt), a haircut, an afternoon strawberry picking here, then home to make the scones to eat with afore mentioned strawberries. Yum. More days like this please!
